I decided last week that I would work on transitions.

I have been loving skating every day but I felt aimless. I had no direction, other than a straight line (sorry…). I watched a video by the Queen Dirty Deborah Harry. She really broke down transitions in a way that was understandable.

Put most of your weight on your lead leg. Lift your other leg with the toe down and bring the heels together. Then lift your toes up on your lead leg and swivel around on the heel of the lead foot and bring the toes together. Simple? I had to recite it over and over again like I was learning to dance.

I’m sure that doesn’t make a lot of sense but go watch her video.

And I am now able to sort of do them while moving!

I’m going to keep at it. But next I want to learn how to backwards skate.
